Paediatric First Aid (Level 3)
The full two-day, Ofqual-regulated paediatric first-aid qualification that meets EYFS requirements in England — delivered at your nursery or pre-school so your whole team is covered together.
An in-depth look at the course
Paediatric First Aid (Level 3) is the full two-day, Ofqual-regulated qualification that meets the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) requirement for paediatric first aid in England. It covers everything in the one-day emergency course and goes considerably further — into the wider range of illnesses, injuries and conditions that early years staff may encounter with babies and children.
Delivered over two days at your setting, with infant and child manikins for hands-on practice, it is the qualification Ofsted expects for staff who count towards EYFS ratios. Training your whole team together on-site is the simplest way to keep your setting fully compliant.

Who should attend
This course is for early years practitioners who need the full EYFS-compliant paediatric first-aid qualification to satisfy Ofsted and staff:child ratio requirements — nursery, pre-school and reception staff, and managers responsible for compliance. Childminders and nannies who want the complete qualification rather than the emergency course also choose this two-day option.
Assessment & certification
Delegates are assessed by continuous practical observation across both days, supported by short knowledge checks. Successful learners receive a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid (RQF), accredited by FAIB or Qualsafe and valid for three years — the qualification that meets the EYFS framework requirement and that Ofsted expects to see for staff counting towards ratios.
